ParaAkar Indonesia which started to emerge in 2010 is the fulfillment of Dony and Wulan’s activism to conserve pandan weaving. ParaAkar’s great concern toward the environmental sustainability is signified by their persistent campaign on leafbased furnishings. They also work in the upstream by facilitating the planting of Pandanus odorifer (sea pandan) and manage the harvest periods. Innovation is their key to attract younger generation of crafters as well as to raise up this local ingenuity to higher level. Great appreciation from many countries makes Dony and Wulan realize that recognition upon local products shall be developed. Consistently, they keep on educating consumers, policy makers, crafters, and leaf gatherers. They believe that collaboration is the key to the sustainability of pandan handcrafts and the ‘roots’ who weave them.
